Member Services

Member Services doesn't sound as action-packed as operations, or important as Recreational Boating Safety, or as much fun as Fellowship, but it is a vital part of the Auxiliary's mission. Not only do we provide the support services for our members that any large organization does, we also help the Active Duty recruiting initiatives.

The United States Coast Guard Academy is the smallest of the service academies, and the only one where applicants are judged purely on their own merit. There are no congressional appointments to the USCGA. The Auxiliary has, historically, supported the recruiting initiatives of the Academy through the Acadamy Introduction Mission, or AIM program.

Each summer, qualified High School Juniors attend a two-week introduction to the life of a Coast Guard Academy Cadet. This program gives them the flavor of the academy, and helps prepare them for the Academy, should they be selected.

The Auxiliary also supports recruitment into the Office Corps via Officer Candidate School, the Enlisted ranks and the Reserve. Qualified Auxiliarists can staff the recruiting offices of the Coast Guard, helping to recruit the next generations of Coast Guard Officers and Enlisted.

Member Services can be a fulfilling program for those who cannot participate in the more active programs. No matter what the operation, there are always vital support services that need to get done, regardless. If this sounds good to you, click on the Help Wanted link above.
