Security Check InformationIn order to provide a somewhat more easily navigable interface to the various Security Check information sites, the Flotilla 10-20 CS department has created this page. Links to the official information will be provided in a single location for our members, and any other Auxiliarists in First Southern. If you are here from another Auxiliary Region, be advised that the primary source of Security Check information lies with your DIRAUX.

Please download and read this PDF file from the Director:
Several StepsAs you know by now, there are several steps involved with the new Security Check policy:
Participation RequirementsIn order to continue in the Auxiliary past December 2004, the member must elect to participate at either the DO or OS levels as stated above. Submitting the Auxiliary Security Questionnaire to DIRAUX (many, if not most have laready done this) establishes at what level the member elects to participate. All Auxiliarists who select either DO or OS will need to submit fingerprint cards for a basic background check. The primary reason is to verify the member's eligibility to be an Auxiliarist (i.e. US Citizen, no felony convictions). Auxiliarists in the DO category also need to submit paperwork for a National Agency Check with Law and Credit (NACLC). The forms are: fingerprint cards as above; Credit Release Form (DOT Form 1631); and Questionnaire for National Security Positions, SF-86. Fingerprint CardsThe fingerprinting process is still in development and deployment. Check the FAQ on the Chief Director's site, and your elected officers. The FAQ indicates that a member may have the fingerprints taken by a local Police department. However, the cards must be the Coast Guard cards issued by DIRAUX. Credit ReleaseThis is a simple form which permits the investigators to obtain consumer credit reports about the member. It can be downloaded H-E-R-E (fillable PDF). SF-86The SF-86 is a large form, wherein you detail most of your life for the past seven years or more. It is strongly recommended that you douwnload and print a copy, and begin to fill out the information immediately. There are some things that may take some digging for you to find out. For example, if one of your parents in a naturalized citizen, you will need their naturalization certificate number. Just remember not to sign or date the form until you are requested to submit it by DIRAUX. If you have the capability to utilize the "fillable" version of the SF-86 (where you fill it out on your computer and either submit it electronically or print and mail), it is heartily recommended that you do. The fillable form is programmed with all of the requirements of the form (SSN on each page, all spaces filled), and it also will do things for you (like put your SSN on every page, and insert 'N/A' in all the spaces you have no information for), making your life easier.
"Just the facts, Ma'am"As mentioned in the warning box above, this page is here for the convenience of our users to locate the proper information regarding the security check process. It is not intended to promulgate policy regarding the process. Policy regarding the process can only come from DIRAUX, or the Chief Director. PSI FAQ Many members have questioned the process and how it will affect them. To help answer these questions, the Chief Director has established a document of Frequently Asked Questions, commonly referred to as a FAQ (pronounced "fak", like "fact" without the "t" sound). The FAQ is available via the link to the right. The FAQ is updated regularly, if not continuously, as new questions come up, and they are researched and answered. Just in case the link gets changed, go to the Chief Director's Security Check Process webpage, and from there you will be able to access the FAQ. Summary
I hope that this page brings together most, if not all of the information that you will need to assist you in completing the Security Check process. I have purposely made it as generic as I believe I can, because the policies are sent down from DIRAUX or the Chief Director, and it is not up to the Flotilla to interpret them. If I have made any errors, or anything here conflicts in the future with policy from official sources, please disregard what you read on this page, and rely only on the official information. Please notify me in the event you do locate an error or conflict, so I can change this page appropriately. If you need assistance obtaining the proper forms, so not hesitate to contact the FSO-CS, Larry West, at the e-mail below. He can provide copies of the forms for you to fill out, and some assistance in setting up your computer to work with the forms. Forms can be made available at Flotilla meetings, if there is demand for them. Respectfully,Larry West FSO-CS
