Spring Safety Workshop - May 15

Republic Airport (FRG), Main Terminal. Flotilla 12-07 is sponsoring, providing coffee, etc. The agenda is as follows:

  • 0900 SAR Procedures - Bob Kingsley
  • 1100 Communications - Art Ramirez
  • 1200 POMS - Bill Tooker
  • 1300 AFAM Flights

Authorized Pilots who own Authorized Facilities may request Patrol Orders to fly to this event, and to participate in AFAM Flights. Requests must be made before 1800 on Wednesday 12May04 to Louis.Barone@Verizon.net

Attendees must bring a NY Sectional Aeronautical Chart to this presentation.

Aviation Swim Test Instructions

Important Swim Test Information

Application for the swim test at the District Conference on March 6 will be collected from the District Conference "Program Sign Up" under Air & Boat Crew Swim, page 3, that was diseminated in "Over the Bow" or obtained on the 1DSR web site.

Ellery Parks will publish the list and it will be final. Additional swim tests will be available.

The order of priority for the swim test will be as follows:

  1. Active Members whose qualifications are due.
  2. Active Members whose qualifications will expire before May or June.
  3. All new Members that are registered on Netskeds. (all written tests and observer time complete)
  4. All other Members.

Additional swim tests will be available throughout the year.

DO NOT email swim test requests to Lou Barone, Ellery Parks, or anyone else on the District Board.

  • January 10th 2004 L.I NY- COMPLETED
  • March 6th 2004 Groton CT, District Conference
  • MAY 2004 Central New Jersey- Ramapo College (Date to be announced)
  • JULY 2004 LI NY - Republic Airport- SUNY Farmingdale (Date to be announced)
  • SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2004 To be determined
  • OCTOBER 2004 Air Station Cape Cod (Date to be announced)
Please note: THE FOLLOWING PERTAINS TO INSHORE FLIGHTS ONLY -
MDA PATROLS - ICE PATROL - FAM FLIGHTS
  • SWIM/EGRESS is not necessary for auxiliary members who are working towards their initial flight qualifications.
  • SWIM/EGRESS is not necessary for any auxiliary members who which to participate as a passenger/crew member.
  • PILOT IN COMMAND has the responsibility to provide a complete briefing to their aircrew on egress and emergency procedures for their particular aircraft.
  • PILOT IN COMMAND will make available PFD's and Raft to any crewmember who request them.
  • PILOT IN COMMAND has the right to refuse a member from acting as an aircrew for any mental or physical condition which can inhibit the safety of the flight, which includes emergency and egress considerations.
Pertaining to -- OFFSHORE FLIGHTS--
THIS ABOVE CONDITIONS DO NOT APPLY TO ANY OFFSHORE FLIGHT OPERATIONS-

All aircrew members must be FULLY QUALIFIED to act as a flightcrew member for any offshore flight operation. All aircrew members must be current in Egress/Swim qualifications. PIC'S ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO ACCEPT ANY MEMBER AS PART OF THEIR AIRCREW IF THEY DO NOT MEET THE ABOVE AIRCREW OFFSHORE STANDARDS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
