Who we are:
We are a group of men and women of all ages who have a desire to serve our country and have a love for aviation. We come from
all walks of life, and each of us have varied talents and skills to contribute. You can learn more about the Coast Guard Auxiliary
by clicking on the Coast Guard Auxiliary emblem to the left.
What we do:
Although our flotilla has a boating component, we are basically an aviation flotilla. Weather permitting, we fly 5 patrols a
day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have patrol routes that cover New York harbor, the south shore of Long Island, the Long Island
Sound, the Upper Hudson River and Lake Champlain as far north as the Canadian border. One type of patrol we fly is the Marine
Domain Awareness (MDA) patrol in which we search for environmental hazards such as oil spills. When necessary, we also
perform Search and Rescue (SAR) missions in which we look for boaters in distress or aircraft which might have crashed.
In the winter, we fly ice (ICE) patrols along our rivers and coastal waterways looking for hazards to navigation. We also
have fun! fellowship is one of the big advantages of belonging to the Auxiliary! Learn more about us by clicking on the links
to the right.
